About Testing Strategies

Testing Strategies class is designed for students who want to succeed in school, but trip up when taking tests.  In the class, we talk about strategies for attacking the different types of test questions like multiple choice, true/false, essay, and reading comprehension (and how you can improve your odds of getting them right, even if you're not sure of the answer).  We also talk about getting the most out of studying and dealing with test anxiety.

At the same time, we work on the fundamentals: reading and writing.  Students learn strategies to become more effective readers, are asked to read for at least 15 minutes each day then reflect on the reading strategies they use.  They learn to become better writer, so that they can perform better on essay tests.  Each week, students respond to a writing prompt on a blog that's live on the Internet.  The fact that their writing is posted online for the world to see is an extra incentive for students to do their best work.
